Jennifer Love Hewitt was born on February 21, 1979 in Waco, Texas to
Ms. Pat Hewitt and her ex-husband Tom. Her mother was originally going to name her Love,
but Todd, Jennifer's older brother (born 1971), thought it would be better to give her a
normal name. Her mother then named her after a blond girl down the street whom Todd was in
love with named Jennifer.
Hewitt was raised in Killeen, Texas. At the tender age of three years old, she slipped
away from her mother at a dinner club, and was found on stage, singing "Help Me Make
It Through The Night." Soon after, Love started singing and taking dance lessons.
Love was voted a "living doll" in a Texas beauty pageant. At age nine, she
became a member of the Texas Show Team. Then at age ten, after moving to Los Angeles, she
began appearing in commercials and was featured in the national print campaign for LA Gear
with Michael Jordan. She appeared in commercials for Mattel Toys (around 20), Circuit
City, Ross Department Stores, Chex Cereal, and Mrs. Smith's Pies.
Love soon landed the role as Robin on Disney's "Kids Incorporated" from
1989-1991. Love and her Kids Inc. co-stars performed on the 1992 UCP Telethon. She also
sang "Please Save Us A World" with her Kids Inc. co-stars before the United
Nations Assembly. Her song later became the theme song for the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de
Janeiro, Brazil. She also starred in her song's video along with other young celebs. In
1992, Love allowed her musical skills to shine with the release of her album "Love
Songs" exclusively in Japan. "Love Songs" included the hits "Please
Save Us A World", "Dancing Queen", "I'll Find You", "90's
Kids", and "Bedtime Stories" (with Debbie Gibson). Some of these single
hits were released in Europe.
She also landed roles on the TV shows "Shaky Ground", "McKenna", and
"The Byrds of Paradise" (Her first kiss was on this ABC TV series when she was
14). Love also was in two unsold pilots "Running Wilde" and "Just
Family" that never made it to TV, and the TV special "The Magic 7". These
series didn't last long, however, Love landed her current role on Fox's 2nd season of
Party Of Five as Sarah Reeves in 1995. Party Of Five has since then became very popular
around the world.
Love appeared in the "Dance! Work Out With Barbie" video as well as her first
movie, "Munchies". Love again showed her musical talent by singing all the songs
in the video. She landed roles in the movies "Little Miss Millions" (Also known
as "Home For Christmas" and "Sister Act 2" Back In The Habit".
She released her 2nd CD (which was also her USA debut) entitled "Let's Go Bang"
(bang - a type of dance) just before being cast in Party Of Five. The CD included the
single "Free To Be A Woman".
Love also played as Brook Figler in "House Arrest" which also stars her idol
Jamie Lee Curtis. Also from this movie came the song "It's Good To Know I'm
Alive" from Love's 3rd CD entitled "Jennifer Love Hewitt". This CD also
includes the hit "No Ordinary Love". She also starred in the movie "Trojan
War", which also stars Will Friedle.
Then in 1997, Love got her big breaktrough by starring as Julie James in the thriller
"I Know What You Did Last Summer". The movie was a big hit around the country,
so good in fact, that a sequel entitled "I Still Know" is in the works. The film
should be out around Thanksgiving of 1998. The film also earned Love a Blockbuster
Entertainment Award in the category "Favorite Female Newcomer." Two films with
her for 1998 are "Can't Hardly Wait" and "Telling You". Other upcoming
movies for Love include the movie "The Surburbans" (with Ben Stiller). The film
should be out sometime in 1999. As well as "Cupid's Love", in which Love is
playing the lead role as well as executive-producing. The release date is unknown.
Hewitt would really like to work with Winona Ryder. She also really likes Johnny Depp.
During her free time she enjoys writing poetry, painting porcelain, and collecting angels,
as well as scented candles. She currently resides in Los Angeles with her mother and two
cats: Haylie and Don Juan DeMarco (named after her favorite movie).
