A LOUISIANA MAN

" Welcome to a Louisiana Man named John "

These are a few things John like's to do, and...LOL...a few things that he doesn't like to do, but needs to do, around the Southfarm.. He says he really doesn't have a hobby, because he doesn't have time. With his job of driving a Big Rig cross country, there's not enough time.

John's sitting out under the barn waiting for his chicken to get finished. He has all his tools set out, spatula, tongs, rags, and something cold to drink.

John loves too bar-b-que, he has his own basting recipe for his chicken. It's been handed down to him from his father. John's his own critic also, I've never heard someone who asks constantly, "how does it taste", or "is it done", or "is it seasoned right". Take my word for it John, IT'S DELICIOUS.

He also likes to boil crawfish, ( also know as a crayfish ). We can get these little mudbugs in season, right down the road from us. For those of you, who don't know what a crawfish is, take a look at a lobster and picture it real tiny, that's what a mudbug looks like. So he sit's and waits for the water too boil, and has a cold "one"

After the water has boiled for awhile, he then puts his seasoning in the pot like salt, pepper, hotdogs, small ears of corn, small potatoes and Zatarin's Crap & Shrimp Boil, oh...and more pepper.

Now the table's set and just waiting for those critters. We always make a dip out of Thousand Island Dressing and ketchup. Now...don't be making faces, at least until ya try it. It's really good !!!

Now for FEAST !!!! If the good Lord made anything better to eat, then he saved it for himself. These little critters are the best tasting food you will ever eat. If you get a chance at some crawfish, go and feast on them. Yummy !!! And of course after John has finished with the boiling, then the next thing he likes is sitting down to Supper. We have ate crawfish in the house, but when the weather's nice we do it outside.

John also likes to fish ( when he has time ). We have a small pond that borders our land, and you can catch brim and large mouth bass there. At one time the pond belonged to the Armstrong's, and when a sister to my father-in-law sold her home, the pond went with the sale.

The cutoff lake borders our land on the Southside. At one time it was part of Bayou Mason. Way back when in the fifties they dammed it up, and that's what made the cuttoff. John and I both love to sit on the banks and watch for birds and other animals. It's best to set down here late in the year. Sometime, long ago, John was down here alone, and he saw an Eagle. He said he watched that magnificent bird for a long time. I know we have Eagle's around here, but...um waa here, has yet to see any :(

As I said earlier, John doesn't have any hobbies, but there's always work to do around the Southfarm. It's an all day job mowing this yard. So here's John doing one of the many chores that has to be done. We always have big limbs on the ground that have fallin out of the pecan trees, and they have to be picked up first. John use's our green pickup that we have named "The Green Lizard".

I have nicknamed my husband "Gopher", go for this and go for that. He just LOVES to work around the house...yeah right !!! Um waa here, also works out in the yard :(, and boy, is it ever hot here. July was the hottest yet, it's usually hotter in August...go figure.

Well, that's about all on this LOUISIANA Man. I sure do Love this guy. Ya'll come back and visit John any time ya want to. Bye now.
