Sandra: My guest tonight has stared in such late night classics as: West Side Story, How the West Was Won. But, he has also worked the other side of the cinenamatic street, in low budjet films, such as Satan's Sadtists. Russ Tamblien, Hi Russ Russ: (laughs) Sandra: Hi Russ Russ: Hi Sandra Sandra: I had no idea you were in all those cool films Russ: Yeah, I did a bunch of them Sandra: Well, How does tonight's film, "Teenage Gang Debs" compare to West Side Story? Russ: (laughs) Sandra: Because they are sort of the same idea Russ: Well, its kind of a hard paring, it's kind of like paring, it's like paring Potato Chips and Cavair, or a Rolls Royce and a pair of Roller Skates. Sandra: (laughs) they are both have their sweet chamr Russ: Yeah, Actually I can see how this film, Teenage Gand Debs was inspired by West Side Story. I' am suprised that they didn't sample it, they have done that. I don't know why they didn't do that. Sandra: I think they edited out the snapping. Russ: Ahhh, No wonder they was so much silence Sandra: Since you have worked both sides of the street, the low and the high bugjet. What's the difference between working the big Hollywood world and the low bugjet world? Russ: Humm, the low bugjet films are more fun. Sandra: That's for sure Russ: Sure, you work for less and get paid less, but their'r more fun. You don't have as much pressure on you. You don't have to worry about it. You just look forward to running it, and seeing the previews, it with all the people. And, usually alot more love goes into it. And alot of people who work on B-movies literally do it for nothing. You would never find anyone working on major films for nothing. Sandra: That's for damn sure. Sandra: You gonna hang out with us some more? Russ: Yes, you bet PART TWO Sandra: We are back with Russ Tamblyn, So you made 4 pictures with Al Ablason, who is like the king of sleaze. Russ: And it only took 4 days Sandra: Only 4 days! How'd you meet Al? Russ: I got a call from him, he knew someone I knew. I was living in Tapanga, accuatly I had ropped out of movies and had gotten involved in the fine arts. He called me up and asked me to be in this motorcycle film. I had always been a huge fan of "The Wild One" with Brando. To play the leader of a motorcycle gang, I couldn't turn it down. Sandra: Yeah, you couldn't resist it Russ: And that got me started in acting! Sandra: (laughs) in fine arts, you ended that carrer! Russ: Yeah (laughs) Sandra: Thank God! or we wouldn't have seen you in all those great films. Russ: My pleasure Sandra: I look forward to seeing you in future B-movies. I wish we could return to that feeling of fun and innocence in B-movies. Russ: I hope so.
