General Information

The cultural city-trips in Athens take place from October till June (no tours in July, August and September).

The programs are for 1 till 5 days.

All activities and excursions are with Greek, English, German or Dutch speaking guides.

We offer Custom-made programs, during the periods of your choice!

We can work out an individual program, based upon your wishes and/or requirements. Individuals, clubs, associations, a group of friends, schools, universities, companies, embassies, etc… are welcome. We will make your stay in Athens an unforgettable experience!

Please let us know how many days, and on which dates you would like to be guided in Athens and we will propose a cultural program to you.

You can choose between the following suggestions:

·        Guided walks in the city centre of Athens ( 3 hours each)

·        Guided visit to the Acropolis and the ancient Greek agora (3 hours)

·        Introduction course in the Greek language: Greek for travel purposes (1,5 hours)

·        Introduction in Greek customs and traditions (2 hours)

·        Meal (dinner or lunch) in a typical Greek taverna

·        1 afternoon: Greek cooking lessons

·        Introduction in the Greek music: who are Theodorakis and Hatzidakis, what are „sirtaki“, „rebetika“, „bouzouki“, „dimotika“ and what is being composed in the 21st century in Greece!

·        Visit to an exhibition or museum of Greek Art

·        Visit to the Olympic Stadium in Maroussi

·        One evening: Greek concert or theatre (time and place depends on the offer)

Your Guides

During your activities, walks and dinners in a taverna, you will be accompanied by a Greek, English, German or Dutch speaking guide, who can make all the necessary translations.

They’ve all lived in Greece for longer than 10 years, are friendly, knowledgeable and experienced and will help to give you a fascinating insight into the different aspects of Greek life in a remarkably short period of time.

Hotelaccommodation

For your accommodation, you can find hundreds of hotels on the internet, or through your travel agent (with or without booking your flight together). We suggest to always book a hotel which is located close to a metro station (preferable the green Kifissia – Piraeus metroline), so you can easily reach our office. (the introduction lessons mentioned in the programme will take place in our Maroussi office, at about 350 meter from the Maroussi Metro Station. ) The metro from the centre of Athens to Maroussi takes 30 minutes. It is convenient to have a hotel in the centre (Sintagma, Plaka, Acropolis, Koukaki, Kolonaki, Thission area), so you can visit the city and museums and you are close to theatre and musical performances in the evening.

In order to make it easier for you, OMILO can arrange your accommodation in the Attalos Hotel (www.attaloshotel.gr) in the city centre of Athens. The price will be as mentioned below. We will ask you to pay an advance of 150 Euro to guarantee your hotel reservation. The balance will be paid upon your arrival in Greece.

The hotel is selected by OMILO for its central, convenient location, good price-quality relation, situated next to the Monasteraki metro-station, within a 10 minutes walking distance from the Acropolis and the Plaka, in the proximity of shops, banks, tavernas, pubs and cafeterias. You have the choice between a single or a double room (sharing with another participant).

In case you do not require accommodation or you prefer to choose your own hotel, you are still welcome to join us for the cultural program, only paying the price for the program.

If you prefer to extend your stay with one or more nights, please make a note on your registration form.

How to Register?

Please write us an email or send us a fax with the dates you would like a cultural city-tour in Athens. Inform us about the number of participants, time available and the main interest of your trip. We will send you within 3 days a proposal, prices and a registration form.
