This is a rug for my newest granddaughter. Her theme was Mickey and Minnie chosen by my daughter Kristi. The rug was created using burlap and the small latchhook tool in the picture of tools. It took much more time and effort than the standard sized latchhook and mesh used in Toystory rug.
I like to use skeins of yarn rather than precut pieces so I can cut them a little longer. (easier to work with) Then I can trim the surface of the rug choosing a sculpted look if I wish. In the center of the rug behind the palm tree is Puff the Magic Dragon. Somewhat hard to see in the picture. More visible in the actual rug. I sewed the edges with yarn to keep unraveling from happening. Then when the scene was completed I put fringe with longer yarn around the edges. You're missing out if you don't give it a try.
BACK LABEL ON RUG
No, I didn't draw the bird, my wife gave the labels to me and I colored it with permanent color pens and wrote the inscription.
