These first two cards are from the deck that I use to read most often, one of the older decks- the Rider-Waite. The above card is the queen of cups, which is my signifier, or the card I use to represent me. The card is for a women who is creative and empathic but can be over-emotional and dreamy.
The second card is the sun, a very positive card.
Another deck that I like to use is the Goddess Tarot Deck. This deck uses Goddesses from all around the world to represent the major arcana. The card I show as an example here is the SUN card, represented by the Zorya- Russian goddesses.
Character Cards-Fairy, Vampire and Tarot of the Witches
Everyone has their own particular decks that they might find interesting. I like fairies, witches, and I'm definitely into vampires. The decision to buy a deck can be made on the name, the artwork, or the feel of the deck.
The Fairy Tarot has a lots of nice suits- instead of the basic pentacles, wands, cups and swords the Fairy Tarots Deck has Hearts, Acorns, Bells and Leaves. There are a lot of very nice pictures. The example of this deck shown here is the Sun Card.
The Witches Tarot also has a definite look to it with very concrete drawings and symbols. Again I have chosen the sun card for an example.
The Vampire Tarot is definitely very stylish, and can be to some, very scary. It's got quite a goth look to it. Again I chose the Sun card to demonstrate, but it's got a very different look, and the artistry is pretty amazing in this painting of the vampire touched by the sun.
Magic Combination Decks
There are some decks that combine magick with the Tarot. The decks that I have that do there are Tarot of Gemstones and Crystals that help to guide you with the stones. I have picked the Sun card- which is represented by Sunstone.
The Herbal Tarot does a similar thingand combines the magick of the herbs with the knowledge and wisdom of the Tarot. The Sun card in this deck is represented by the herb Angelica.
Other Kinds of Decks
There are other kinds of decks that are not exactly Tarot, but can be used in similar ways- I only have a few, and there are many out there.
The Goddess Knowledge cards consist on wonderful pictures of goddesses on one side and information about the goddesses on the other. This chosen picture is of the Egyptian Goddess Bast.
The most beautiful deck I have ever seen consists of 66 cards designed by Brian Froud which come with a book written by Brian and Jessica MacBeth. The cards have their own meanings but really take you to interpret them for themselves. I have included two pictures of my favorites.
Any of these decks can be found at the larger bookstore chains (like Barnes&Noble and Borders) but also online at AZURE GREEN
