The Future Business Leaders of America is an organization dedicated to bringing business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career
development programs. The FBLA strives to promote leadership, good citizenship, self-confidence, and a positive work ethic in all of its members. Nowhere else can be found a group of individuals more enthusiastic and energetic about their cause than the members of the
FBLA.

FBLA HISTORY

The Homer High Future Business Leaders of America Chapter7655 received its charter on February 17, 1977, and will soon celebrate its 22nd birthday.

During these twenty-two years, this chapter has been lucky enough to have had a state officer for fifteen years, and currently Miguel Womack is serving as the District I Vice President.

Currently the Homer High Chapter has 64 members who have had a very busy fall schedule and are looking forward to District and State Leadership Conference competition in the spring.

 

FBLA NEWS

FBLA NEWS FROM THE HOMER CHAPTER AND MORE

June, 1998 - Two advisers and state officer, Miguel Womack, attended the Vocational Student Officers Training in Gonzales, LA.

July, 1998 - One adviser and two students, Miguel Womack and Dustyn McDonald, attended the National Leadership Conference in Orlando, FL.

August, 1998 - School began, and the Executive Council held the Program of Work meeting to plan the schedule for the school year.

September, 1998 - First Meeting - Ice Cream Party to introduce prospective new members to FBLA and its goals.

October, 1998 - Former Homer High FBLA member and District I Vice President, David Aubrey, was elected as mayor of Homer. CONGRATULATIONS, DAVID!

November, 1998 - Twenty-six members and two advisers attended the Southern Region Leadership Conference in Birmingham, AL. Homer High members planned and held the second District I Retreat to introduce and inform members throughout the District of the great fun in FBLA. And, Homer High FBLA held its annual American Enterprise Day event and dinner.

December, 1998 - Christmas is upon us. Yes, we had events for Christmas! We decorated the atrium at the Presbyterian Village Nursing Home, went to Shreveport on a Field Trip on a school day, then we went to Holiday Lanes bowling, AND we mailed letters from Santa Claus to some of our favorite buddies!

January, 1999 - Happy New Year!!! - Convention time is here! Begin studying for District! Organize the District Conference and start traveling. Miguel, Mrs. McClure, and Mrs. Sims are "on the road again."
