Her Great Grandmother Caroline FRANK/FRONK MUNTZ immigrated to America from Germany with her sister Pauline (married BOHN). She brought a piece of needlepoint given to her by a student of Wittenberg College in Germany. At some point it was framed and hung in her home. It was the home Nelda knew as Caroline's son William Frederick MUNTZs - her Great Uncle Bill's. The needlepoint was passed on to his daughter, Gertrude. Lena, Bill's 2nd wife had it translated by Minnie Meyer, a friend of Gertrudes. After learning what it said it's significance became more meaningful. That home has been blessed many times over.
Where there is faith, there is love.
Where there is love, there is peace.
Where there is peace there is blessing.
Where there is blessing there is God.
Where there is God, There is NO WANT."

In July 2000 Nelda visited with cousin Gertrude and her daughter Susan. Susan went to be with her Lord in January 2001 and we all miss her.

Caroline's older son: Carl Orlando MUNTZ (Nelda's grandfather Orlando) and his family pictured in 1915 on the occasion of daughter Hildred's confirmation. front: twins Ray William & Raymond Orlando, & Clifford Herman (Nelda's Dad). middle: Orlando & Amelia WEBER MUNTZ & back: Luella Emma, Roy John, & Hildred Donelda MUNTZ. Pictured on the right is Orlando & Amelia in 1958 on their 60th wedding anniversary, all their children attended. The twins, who at birth were not expected to live, ironically lived the longest; they died in 1993 within four days of each other.
On the left: Clifford MUNTZ's high school graduation picture; the only member of his immediate family to graduate from high school. He quit school in the fall of his senior year and after a couple years of working at the local farm experimental station returned and graduated with his cousin Gertrude MUNTZ.
Pictured in the center is Mary McLaughlin, as a young girl (mid 1920's).
Mary Elizabeth McLAUGHLIN married Clifford Herman MUNTZ in March 1942 in Henry Co., Ohio.

This picture is at a MUNTZ family reunion in 1987 that Nelda & Alicia attended (neither are pictured). Families attending in whole or part were: BUTLER, EBBS, DAVIS, MENGERINK, MUNTZ and WEAVER. Five folks pictured here have since passed away; cousin Lois and her daughter Linda MUNTZ, cousin by marriage Cecil and daughter Susan MENGERINK, and Nelda's mother, Mary McLAUGHLIN MUNTZ.

Pictured on the left is Mary's parents: Bertha Olive BAKER and Thomas Mannon McLAUGHLIN who married in 1901. On the right is their family about 1913 prior to Mary's birth in 1919: Helen, Tom, Roy, Bertha & Joseph. Thomas died in 1932. Bertha (as her mother) did not remarry. She, son Roy & daughter Helen ran the farm after his death. Uncle Harve, Tom's brother lived with them until his death in 1951.

The cute "Tea Party" picture is Mary's older siblings: Helen Myrle & Joseph Baker McLAUGHLIN taken in 1906 or 1907. Next, their brother Roy McLAUGHLIN at about age 5, and in high school.

This is a grade school picture from the 1920's of Bainbridge, Ross Co., Ohio. Mary McLAUGHLIN (Nelda's mother) is on the front row seventh from the left.

This is the McLAUGHLIN farm pictured in about 1955.

Here is the same farm as it appeared prior to 1918. The white brick's of the home were made on the farm. Look close: parked between the two small buildings is a school wagon.

It was previously thought this picture may have been taken on the occasion of Bertha Baker & Thomas McLAUGHLIN wedding in 1901. Note the corsages on most of the women. However, this has been ruled out as Henry Baker (pictured) died in Sept. of 1900. The two families had neighboring farms.
Pictured (l-r) back; Bertha Olive BAKER, Thomas Mannon McLAUGHLIN, Ben BAKER, Henry BAKER, Edward BAKER, Sadie Sinclair BAKER & Mary Alma BAKER.
Middle: "Massie" Ora Macedonia McLAUGHLIN, Minnie BAKER, Sarah FERNEAU BAKER, Benoni BAKER, Louisa REDKEY BAKER & "Dee" Lydia Allen BAKER.
Front; Harvey Davis McLAUGHLIN, Aaron BAKER, "Myrtle" Effie Myrtle BAKER & Ada Rose BAKER.
(Identification made by Bertha & her daughter, Helen (in her hand) on the original photograph back.

Shown here are the BAKER sisters in about 1955: Ada McMULLEN (Mrs. "Ned" Carey Edward), Bertha McLAUGHLIN (Mrs. Thomas), Mary Baker (did not marry), Lydia "Dee" HATCHER (Mrs. Charles C.), & Sadie McWILLIAMS (Mrs. Sherman).

These two pictures are of Bertha's mother, Louisa REDKEY BAKER (1852-1921). Louisa married Royal Walker Blackburn BAKER who died in 1885 in Missouri of a heart attack when all six daughters were under the age of 10. She moved back to Ohio and never remarried, raising all six girls on her own. Her youngest daughter Effie Myrtle BAKER died of typhoid fever in 1910, age 25 (engaged at the time). (The picture on the left was scanned from an old tin type.)

This picture of Louisa and her daughters was taken about 1903. Seated are Lydia & Myrtle. Standing: Bertha, Mary, Sadie, & Ada. Three daughters were married by this time; Lydia, Bertha and Sadie.
David Sherman McWILLIAMS married Sadie Sinclair BAKER in December 1902. He was more commonly known as Sherman McWILLIAMS.

John L. REDKEY (1822-1901) was Louisa's father; he lived near Rainsboro, Ohio and was well respected being called "Uncle John" by many. He was hearing impaired.

This is Thomas McLAUGHLIN's parents: Benjamin West McLAUGHLIN & Birdie Delila DAVIS McLAUGHLIN. They married in the 1860's & had 5 children (pictured on the right) front: Massie & twins Julia or Julietta & Nancy (also known as Julie & Nanny); back: Thomas & Harvey. They grew up in the white brick home pictured above.

This picture is of poor quality because it is very old. This is Birdie Delilah DAVIS' parents, David & Jemima BEEKMAN DAVIS. They had 14 children of which Birdie was the oldest.
