The Thrill of Victory And The Agony of Defeat (a commentary on Revelation)
Click A Chapter On The Left For A Brief Summary
These thoughts represent my view of Revelation after studying the views of various writers, teachers, preachers and scholars over the past 20 years. I make no claims to complete originality. If you do not agree with my conclusions, well, guess what; by the time I finished this, I didn't totally agree with me in every point either! I pretty well expect to change my mind on some of what I have written, so don't hold me to it.
The Bible presents to us the book of Revelation. It is the Apocolypse of Jesus Christ. It is about how Christianity was misunderstood and persecuted from the very first. It is how Jesus Christ dealt with the persecution that Christians were undergoing. You will meet the beast in three different forms: the Beast as a civil or governmental persecuting power; the beast as a religious (false prophet) persecuting power; and the beast from a social (woman on the beast) persecuting power. The number of the beast is said to be 666, which is the identifying mark. Much speculating is done about who the beast is, and much is made to do about the beast. However, this book is not about the beast but about Jesus Christ. It is about the warrior Jesus Christ. The one who comes to make war not love. If your view of Jesus Christ does not include this view, then your view of Jesus Christ is not broad enough. Enjoy.
