Picture it, the Spanish Armada, 1588-angry spanish navy officers realizing the english had beat them-giving england a control over the seas that would last for centuries. This conquest made it possible for the english to begin their colonization of the "New World"...
Now picture it, jamestown-1607-the beginning of a new era- where england colonizes America. As the english colonies develop, salutary neglect ends, the colonists are angry, the declaration of independence is written, and the colonists rebel! A REVOLUTION!!! the colonists win...
Fast forward through the Articles of Confederation, the civil war, the first world war, the depression, the second world war, the cold war and go to 1984. When Katie, Kate, and Ella were born. Then to 1985 when Caroline, Dawn and Andrea were born...thus our story begins. But actually we must be aware of what is going on in the meantime...
It was the beginning of an underground movement...that can be contributed to the success of girl bands from the 80's such as the go-go's, bananarama, the bangles, and blondie. Courtney Love, though not the founder of this movement, was one of the well known faces....that's right, im talking about riot grrrl's! Such bands as L7 and Hole can be considered some of the most influential and popular bands of this movement. But with the rising power of grunge...riot grrls were overshadowed...but no more!
Fast forward once again to a couple of weeks ago where the lead singer of Jimfix sugggested to Andrea that she start an all grrl band. She listened to L7 the next morning and decided...it was her destiny-so she called forth her faithful phallus friends...whoa! i mean faithful friends of the phallus...whoa! i don't know what i mean....thus the Flaming Phallus was born!
