Along the Indian border, not far from the birthplace of Buddha, the land flattens, the temperature rises, the malarial mosquitos who have outsmarted the DDT buzz along placid streams such as this in the Tarai.

The best way to see a mother rhino and her baby is on the back of an elephant. 

I never appreciated the practical nature of travel by elephant until tromping around on one in this dangerous brush-filled recovering jungle.

As an aside, most of the natural habitat of the planet has been devastated by the hands of humankind.  Is it reasonable to ask:
Are less economically powerful ethnic groups next?
