BRANT COUNTY LANDLORDS' ASSOCIATION (BCLA)
Who We Are

In 1987, a group of landlords met together to discuss some of the problems and difficulties they were having with their income properties. These random meetings evolved into an association of landlords who all work together to try and protect their investments. They meet every month from January to June and again from September to November on the last Thursday of the month.

On a regular basis, a guest speaker is invited to impart their expertise to the group. These guest speakers have been from local, regional and provincial bodies.

Part of each meeting is dedicated to an open forum where everyone is able to share in both good and bad experiences and where individuals can capitalize on the knowledge and experience base of the entire group.

A couple of times a year, we have a survey prepared of local rental ads. This survey provides us with valuable information which has been logically grouped to help our membership determine where the rental market is at in features and costs. At our meeting, we distribute a detailed survey with the Summary Stats.

Part of the pro-active approach to protecting ones investment means that you need to know to whom you are renting. Lets face it, we do not know our renting applicants unless they are family or friends and we all have some FRIENDS that we wouldn't want to rent to. As a member of the B.C.L.A., you can benefit from the tenant database that we maintain. If any potential tenant is or has been a tenant with any one of our members, we can put you in touch with that member to discuss their experiences with that tenant. Otherwise, a standard credit check will be run at a minimal cost to determine the applicant's suitability.
