My Thoughts

Adam Rachel is one of local home grown player, which he is a promising goalkeeper. He have signed for Aston Villa on July 1993. He is a 22 years old goalkeeper who will have to wait for a chance to play for first team as we got Mark Bosnich who is the best goalkeeper in the world, and Michael Oakes who is a solid Ex-England U21 goalkeeper. Adam Rachel did appear on the bench covering for either Bosnich or Oakes 4 times during 1997-98 season. He have 5 reserve appearances during 1997-98 season. He will face more competition for reserve goalkeeper position as there is England U18 goalkeeper Matthew Ghent and also Michael Price who was Wales U16 goalkeeper. Adam Rachel recent form was improving a lot, ie catching crosses. He have made an appearance for Villa during a friendly match against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns in August 1997. Adam Rachel could be released at the end of season, which is a shame as his competition for goalkeeper position are extremely high standard. But again anything can happens in football. He might have to drop down a couple of division to kick start his career.
