Those of us that struggle with weight realize that it’s a lifetime struggle.
You can’t go on a diet and lose some weight and then go back to the way you
were and expect to maintain a healthy weight.
Too many people say, “I can’t eat that, I’m on a diet.”
Diets are temporary; lifestyle changes are permanent. If you can’t eat
something because you’re on a diet, when can you eat it? For those of us
that struggle with weight loss, there are no diets. We can’t go on a diet
for a few weeks only to get off the diet and back to our old ways, we have
to make lifestyle changes and live a new healthier lifestyle, which is the
only true way to lose weight and maintain it.
I’m sure a lot of you know people that have had “weight loss” surgery. I
can’t say much about it because I have never had it, I can only give my
opinion. The weight loss surgery doesn’t teach you how to eat right and
exercise. Without a new lifestyle, I truly feel that the weight loss surgery
is pointless. Those people that have the surgery and drop 100 lbs. didn’t
actually “lose” the weight and really have nothing to be proud about. Those
of us that bust our asses daily to lose the weight, we are the ones that
should be proud.
If you have surgery to lose weight and then continue to eat the way you did
without a new lifestyle, the surgery will fail and you will be in worse
shape than you were before. I’m not looking down on people who choose to
have the surgery; I truly believe that in order to lose weight and keep it
off, you have to change your life. There are no quick fixes and there is no
easy way out of being fat.
The
only way out of being fat is to make up your mind to do it, eat sensible,
exercise and never give up.
