Our History

In 1989, members from First Assembly of God in Henderson, Kentucky, recognizing a definite need for a church in Morganfield, not only supported the idea of beginning a church, but gave spiritual and monetary support as well. So on September 24, 1989, with a core group of 5 families present, Trinity Assembly of God in Morganfield began Sunday evening services at St. John's Episcopal Church with the pulpit being filled by pastors from First Assembly as well as many other ministers from the Pennyrile section. On January 5, 1989, Pastor David and Sherry Godbout moved to Morganfield to fill the pulpit as Trinity's first pastor. By February 1990, we had rented and moved into a storefront building in Morganfield and began to have Sunday morning services. Six weeks later our Sunday school program was beginning to develop, starting with three different classes. Pastor Godbout was with Trinity until May 1992. In October 1992, Rev. Jerry Ricketts of Henderson was asked to fill in as pastor. He accepted pastor ship in January 1993. In July 1993, the church purchased land with intentions of building a church, however, they later had the opportunity to rent and later buy a building suitable for the church and did so in June 1994. God continued to bless the church and it began to be established. Brother Jerry left the church in 1999. Brother Don Rowan became the pastor in January 2000 and pastored Trinity until September 2001. Pastor Tony Stanley and his family joined us as pastor in January 2002. God has blessed the church and we are growing. This last year of 2004 has been a very exciting time. The church has seen new ministries started. Outreach has begun. God is about to open the windows of Heaven.
