What actions are we taking now?

We have filed a PAR for the MCI Order.

We have filed a PAR for the Building-wide order.

Within a week we will respond to landlord's PAR for the MCI and respond to his Notice to Restore the Rent.

The MCI Order and the Building Wide Rent Reduction

What does this mean for tenants?

For Rent Stabilized Tenants, it means a rollback in rent; for Rent Controlled Tenants a small reduction. The MCI increase is limited to a percentage of one's rent and phased in over several years. Detailed information has been provided to individual tenants by the Steering Committee.

TCTA needs to make some decisions about how to proceed from this point. We have the right to file a PAR opposing the MCI as well as the limits of the rent reduction. In addition, the calculation of each tenant's correct rent should be verified with DHCR. TCTA Steering Committee has sent all regulated tenants information about these matters and further advice can be found at Know Your Rights.

Having a problem with your mail or newspaper delivery?

If you have not been finding your daily newspaper outside your door in the morning, the reason is simple. Our landlord has refused to give a key to the delivery service. Webmaster warned Mitchell’s delivery of this possibility several months ago, and reported the problem again once the old lock was removed.

Read more about this situation and about how you can take action.
