| Sigma Alpha Iota, International Music Fraternity for women was founded in 1903 at the University School of Music, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Seven women, Elizabeth Campbell, Francis Caspari, Georgina Potts, Mary Storrs Andersen, Minnie Davis Sherill, Nora Crane Hunt, and Leila Farlin Laughlin were the founding members.
