speak at the women's retreat. She returns by popular demand!)
Shirley Huffines, a local author, will talk about her book, and it will
be on sale at the lunch hour.
Gloria Haynes will entertain and inspire with a wonderful story from
the Bible.
"Beautiful Feet" (the clown troop from Corinth Baptist Church) will
also entertain and inspire.
The Preston Family will lift our spirits with their beautiful singing. We
may have other special singing as well.
Praying Mothers United is sponsoring the retreat and will provide lunch.
Women from all walks of life and all denominations are welcome.
We are expecting a wonderful day of uplifting worship, praise and
fellowship. We may even have some prizes to give away!

located on Highway 401 between
Madrid and Dyer.
WELCOME: ALL WOMEN
Praying Mothers United welcomes all women, mothers or not,
to join them the first Monday night at 6:30 each month
in the fellowship hall of Hudson
Community Church.
The meetings are usually one hour long and consist
of a devotional, prayer, prayer requests and a brief
discussion of business.
This group sponsors an annual women's retreat held in the
spring. In 2003 it will be April 12, from 8:30-2:00. A
variety of speakers are scheduled. Come and enjoy a day
of worship, praise and fellowship.
PRAYING MOTHERS
B. L. Whitworth
Who, but a mother, could touch the throne of grace
On behalf of a wandering daughter or son?
Who, but a mother, could stand in the gap
Until the victory has been won?
Who, but a mother, could praise God
For the miracle before it has come?
Who, but a mother, could remain strong
And endure until the race is run?
A mother's love is strong!
God listens to the mother's heart
And places there a special song
That will never, ever depart.
So, mothers, keep on praying
And seeking God's loving face;
Keep on touching the throne of grace,
And one day an answer will come!

PRAYING MOTHERS UNITED
B. L. Whitworth
October 17, 1998, Praying Mothers United organized. After much prayer and seeking the Lord about what I thought He had called me to do, I went forward with contacting women in nearby churches. God gave me one rule: commit to spend a minimum of 15 minutes weekly in prayer about the requests brought before the group. That seemed like so little, but I understood the reason: anyone can commit to that amount of time.
I wanted this group to include anyone from any denomination. Although all the meetings have been held in the fellowship hall of the Hudson Community Church in Breckinridge County, Kentucky, the meetings are open for "ALL" women.
We met on Saturday mornings for a long time and then changed the meetings to the first Monday night (6:00 p.m.) of each month. Attendance improved immediately.
We allow women to join as inactive members if they are unable to attend meetings. They are given updated prayer requests so they can help us pray. As of April 2002, we have a total membership of 35. That is a good number for a small rural community.
The meetings consist of opening prayer, a devotional led by a volunteer from the group, praise reports, new prayer requests, and closing prayer. We try to keep each meeting to one hour.
Three years ago we started sponsoring an all day Women's Retreat at Hudson Community Church. We have speakers, special singing and praise, worship, lunch and communion. It has been wonderful each time, and we always anticipate the next year many months in advance.
We celebrate our anniversary with a meal and fellowship. That is always special.
Two years ago we started going on a Christmas outing to Glen Dale, Kentucky. We all love the shops and lunch at the Whistle Stop restaurant.
This group of women from various churches have come together in one accord. Strong friendships have formed. We share a kindred spirit as we pray for common concerns.
We extend an invitation to any woman, even if you aren't a mother. Come and join us for an hour of prayer, praise and fellowship.
