Firenewts are distant relatives of the Lizard Men. They have newt-like bodies sepia in colour, darker along the spine and fading to near-white on the belly and with blood-red eyes with black slitted pupils and orange irises.
Firenewts train as Warriors, Priests, Druids, Wizards or multiclass Warrior-Wizards.
Maximum levels are as follows:
CLASS MAXIMUM LEVEL Warrior 14 Druid 3 Priest 7 Wizard 8 Warrior-Wizard 8 / 8Firenewt warrior-wizards are known as "Overlords" by other Firenewts and are revered for their power and skill.
Firenewts roll statistics as normal, with -2 on Strength and +1 on Constitution.
Once per turn a Firenewt of any class can breathe fire. This attack has a range of 5' and inflicts 1d6 hits damage, halved if a save vs. breath weapon is made.
Firenewts save at -3 vs. all cold attacks but at +3 for all fire based attacks and take minimum damage from any successful fire attack in any event.
Firenewts take Weapon Proficiencies only in the following weaponry: Battle Axe, Mace, Pike, Longsword, Broadsword.
In Athas campaigns, Firenewts are often Sun Priests or Templars of a Sun worshipping Sorceror-King.
