ED347 Website Evaluation
Directions for the website evaluation:
I. You are to evaluate one website that you have included on the hot list developed for your lesson plan.
II. Evaluate the website using the evaluation sheet below.
III. When you have completed the questions below, save them in a file and attach it to your TaskStream Lesson Plan under MATERIALS.

2. Purpose:
a. What is the goal of this site? The objective of this site is to allow children to test their skills at creating tangrams with seven pieces, five triangles, one square and on parallelogram.
b. Who supports this site and what is their goal in presenting this information? The site is support PBS and their goal is to present educational material that incorporates on of their television programs that is targeted at children, this program is Sagwa the Siamese Cat.
3. Authority:
a. Does the individual or group who constructed this information have the knowledge or experience to be considered reliable? Yes, PBS is extremely reliable and their educational background is very well known.
b. Does the author cite authorities? Yes, the author of Sagwa, the Siamese Cat Amy Tan and Cinegroupe.
c. How confident are you that the author(s) that constructed this information is (are) well-qualified? Again PBS is very well know and I believe that they devote a lot of time to research and seek qualified individuals for their research.
4.Scope:
a. How would this site be useful to you? (What activities would you conduct using this site?) Substantial discussion is necessary to adequately
answer this question. When teaching Math I would incorporate this website because teaching about Tangrams could be a little dry but by showing my students this site, it can be fun for them, and also can enable them to be creative.
b. Are links to other sites provided for greater depth or detail? PBS’s website is very detailed, but unfortunately does not lead to other sites relating to Tangrams.
c. Is an additional search necessary in order to find further information? Because I did research Tangrams in detail, this website does not lead you to other Tangram sites.
5. Format:
a. Describe the overall appearance of the site (text, color, graphics, reading level, font size, too much text, too much graphics, etc.) The website appeals to children especially those who are familiar with Sagwa the Siamese Cat, and the graphics are perfect. The images and color choices enable users to be comfortable with the website.
b. Is the material clearly presented? Yes, it is very clear and easy to read.
c. Is the information presented in a format that is easily understood? Yes, the directions are easy to follow and I feel that children will be comfortable with the website.
d. Is there a statement as to whether you can reproduce this information for educational purposes?
Yes, there is a copyright notice from the author Amy Tan and also Cinegroupe, the production company.
6. Acceptance of Material:
a. Does the material come from a source that is widely recognized? PBS and Sagwa the Siamese Cat are widely recognized and that is the reason that this site was chosen to appeal to children who were familiar of the character.
b. Does the site provide information as to how many individuals have accessed this site? If yes, what was the number when you accessed this
site? No this website does not include this information.
c. When was the site last updated? Does it say on the page? 2001-2003 is the information that is stated at the bottom of the web page.
