School Literacy Team:
(1) Cathy Willoughby (2) Liz Jensen |
| Priority Need:
1. According to the Fall CAT/5 reading assessment, 40% of our P4 students are reading below grade level. This is a significant decline from previous years. TerraNova reading scores of P4 students fell from 70 in 2001 to 62 in 2002. |
Goal: (A Goal addresses
a Priority Need)
1. By May 2003, there will be a 10% decrease in the percentage of 4th grade students (formerly P4) reading below grade level. |
| Cause(s)/Contributing
Factors:
(both positive and negative, based on needs analysis) 1. 47% of the students in grades P4 2001-2 have not participated in Cumberland Trace's Primary Program due to redistricting in our county. 2. The socioeconomic population has changed over the past year. 3. Lack of a school-wide
literacy plan which addresses the needs of the new population make-up of
our school.

Objective(s) with Measures
of Success:

By Sept. 2003, 4th grade teachers and Title I resource teacher will have adopted a literacy plan to meet the needs of our students. 4.
