Snowboarding

Welcome to the snowboarding page. Snowboarding is my favorite activity to do when I have down time. It is an awsome thrill to be able to go out and ride in some fresh snow and do your own thing. In this page you will be able to see the three most popular variations in Snowboarding.
Snowboarding has not been around as long as you think it has. It has only been tracked back to the 1960's. Sherman Poppen is most often credited with inventing the snowboard in 1965. As the story goes, Poppen fixed two skis together for his daughter to "surf" down the snowy hill outside their Michigan home.
In the picture to the left this snowboarder is carving his way down a mountian. Carving is the most popular and probably the easyiest variation in snowboarding. When carving you simply try to ride on the edges of your board. This will help you gain speed, and then from the you simply weaving in and out to maintain control as you race down the mountain.
In this picture the snowboarding doing what we call rail sliding, or also known as grinding. When you are trying to grind the key is to get your entire board on the rail. This variation of snowboarding is becomeing more and more popular each day.
This what most snowboarders set out to do. The BIG AIR. This is the most thrilling part of snowboarding. Just hit the jump ans fast as you can and see how far you fly.
