Staff is probably the first carried permanent possession and one of the first weapons, 2nd only to a rock, besides natural weapons such as teeth & claws. Staff is in almost every culture, if not indeed every culture. A "Jo" is Japanese for "Stick" or a stick, about 54" stick-length being standard. It is my life goal to learn everything there is to know about all forms of staff and stick martial arts, and through this site, I hope to share and continue this research.
