What it means to be a KOA Member

I can give to many definitions as to what it means to be a Knight of Absolution. But seeing as that would take up a lot of webspace I will keep it somewhat short. Being one of us means humility, respect, kindness, and willingness to help your fellow man under any circumstance, leadership, compassion, and justice for wrongdoings, loyalty and above all else HONOR!

Just so you know what I mean by these terms here is how I see them and what they mean to me.

Humility

The willingness to give of what you posses to help another who is less fortunate than you are.

Respect

Respecting what others believe and their right to be who they are. Understanding that when you come upon another who is working their skills or hunting alone or in groups that they deserve the respect you would want them to give to you if you were in their situation.

Kindness

Showing a kind attitude towards others so that you create an impression that you are trustworthy and goodhearted.

Willingness

When you see another in trouble no matter who they are, whether a part of our organization or another or not a part of one at all, putting aside your own tasks to give them the help they may need. Whether it is to help in recovering what they have lost from dying, answering questions from players who have not been around long enough to know the answers, or even to help another person gain skill as one day long ago I am sure someone helped you.

Leadership

Showing others by your actions and confidence that you know what you are doing and can take control of a situation. Taking suggestions instead of always saying your way is the right way at all times. Giving younger players the kind of person they can look up to and aspire to become.

Compassion

Showing that you care for your fellow members and for their troubles. Letting people know that they can count on you in times of need when they are in a bind or need a friend.

Justice

Bringing absolution to those who commit wrongdoings against others and against the guild itself. Showing that certain things will not be tolerated when one of us is around. Being able to carry out that justice when the time is appropriate.

Loyalty

Being faithful to your friends and to your guild. Never committing acts that would be seen as treasonous to your guild brothers and sisters. In KOA you are part of a family, and family is always supposed to be loyal to each other.

HONOR

By far this is our most important trait. Showings of merited respect and esteem given to others, keeping your word when you give it, being devoted to our cause and to our values, giving high regard to those who deserve it, having a keen sense of ethical conduct in your duties as a KOA member, showing integrity in who you are and how you show yourself to others and lastly showing that you are pure in heart and mind.

This is what it means to be a Knight of Absolution. This is the dream that our guild family was created on. We all have our shortcomings and that is to be expected in anyone. No one is perfect. But this is the code I wish for all of the guild membership to try their best to abide by. We shall live as Knights, and we shall die as Knights, and in the end we shall find our own Absolution.
