Simon started his musical career as a saxophonist with his local R&B band. Shortly after, he took up lead vocals and formed his own eleven-piece band, Weekend In Paris, touring the UK extensively singing R&B classics. The band supported a range of acts including Edwin Starr, The Stylistics, Joe Brown, Showaddywaddy, The Platters, Bad Manners, Chas and Dave, The Equals and The Dooleys.
Simon has appeared on both UK and European TV and radio and made numerous live appearances. His career also includes working as a guest vocalist wiht jazz bands, including Linsay Bennett, Geoff Miller, Tony Wilsonham, Jim James, Andy 'Big Bird' Watson and the Kent Youth Jazz Orchestra.
Simon has been involved with The Official Tribute to the Blues Brothers since the latter part of 1991, performing the part of Elwood in the original West End production, taking some time out as Assistant Director to David Leland. He has played the part of Elwood on tours of the UK, Europe and Japan, and also in the highly acclaimed West End seasons.
Simon is expected to return to the UK tour as of January 2002, as Elwood.
