• During the month of Sept, 2009 the Owensboro Police Dept along with several other agencies ( OFD, DCSO, DCDC, and possibly a few others) will begin the construction of a "Safety House" for our local Habitat For Humanity chapter. This is the first project of its kind to be undertaken by our department(s), and it will be a highly publicized event. The site chosen is located at 7th and Elm. At this time there is a house under construction (Women's Build) next door that will be similar to the one we will build. The project is slated to take 90 days and the keys to the home should be handed to the homeowner well before Christmas. The project will be supervised by Steve Kimble (retired OPD), and ALL the funds for the project have been covered.......all that is needed is YOU! Look for the sign up sheets located throughout the dept. Do not worry if you do not have any "building" skills. That is what this project is all about.......helping others by helping each other!
