UPDATE: 04-09-2013 - The Bryan Durman Act has passed the Kentucky Senate and recently passed the Kentucky House of Representatives 95-0.  The Act was signed on March 22, 2013 by the Governor.  The ceremonial signing was held in Lexington on April 29, 2013 with Governor Beshears.         DURMAN ACT

 

13 RS SB 15 is an act relating to violent offenders:

 

 

 

The act amends KRS 439.3401 to provide the persons convicted of criminal homicide under KRS 507 shall be classified as a violent offender and subject to mandatory service of time and all applicable restrictions on parole and service credits

Contact your Kentucky State Legislators and urge them to support this very important piece of legislation.  It affects all of us not just law enforcement.  This is for all the future victim's families that will be left dealing with the death of family members, but able to have some comfort that the sentenced  violent offender will not be let out early.
