Horse Racing Prognostications

I have only one objective during the off-season (Feb-Sept) and that is to dip as deep as I can into “Bennie the Bookie’s” pocket and build my reserves for the Football Season.

So from now until kickoff I’m off to the races. I like to mix it up with some favorites & long shots and I usually bet about a hundred a week, depending of course on the available races. Between Feb. & the fist weekend in May there are a number of “Derby” prep races that don’t offer a lot of value but do provide low risk wagering. If theirs no solid races I’ll find something to play.  I like the action. So here we go: Saddle up and hold on tight. It’s Post Time!

Here’s what I see for this weekend: Saturday Feb. 9th

            Fair Grounds:

4th Race: I usually don’t like horses to win that are coming off a Maiden win, but in this case I don’t see any other horse that will be able to stay with You’llbeinmyheart (#3). Bag of Hearts (#1) and Countney (#2) will run with her for a while but will probably start fading at the ½ Mile or 5/8ths pole.  So I’m betting that Walkin Sexy (#4) and That Girl Madison (#6) will close from off the pace and hit the board.

I’ll bet a $5.00 Trifecta Wheel -  #3 with #4 & #6 with #4 & #6. and probably scatter in some exacta boxes late, just to CMA.

7th Race: This race is a little more difficult. I prefer horses with class and conditioning in races a 1 1/16th and over but early speed has won at this distance 34% of the time this meet (in 39 races) and 50% of the time this week (in 4 races). I really don’t see the expected early speed- Katy Kat (#4) and Enquiry Woman (#3) being able to hold off the late charge from the off the pace horse-Lakenheath (#6); although Katy Kat may hold on to hit the board.

            I’ll bet a $3.00 Trifecta Key - #6 with # 1, #4 & #5 and a $2.00 Exact Wheel with the same combinations.

9th Race: I think this race is wide open. The 6/5 favorite Hallowed Dreams (#4) has blazing speed but is not entirely alone in this category. He’ll have company with My Brent’s Diamond (#1) and they’ll duel for the lead. Hallowed Dream then has to hold off the pace horses, Serena’s Tune (#3) and Hattieburg (#5) down the stretch. It should be a great race from the 1/16th Pole to the finish. I’m going to go with a pace horse and bet that the favorite will give it up.

            I’ll bet a $5.00 Trifecta Key - #3 with #4 & #5. I’ll also play a $5.00 Exacta Box with the same combinations as a backup.

These are some of the other races I like today:

Tampa Downs:

                        10th Race: #5 / #4 / #1-3-6-10

            Oaklawn Park:

                        9th Race: #7 / #1, #2, #3, #6

            Aueduct:

                        6th Race: #10 / #5, #6, #8, #9

                        7th Race: #4 – #7- #9

                        8th Race: #1 / #2 / #6 & #8

                        9th Race: #8 / #4 & #6 / #1 & #7

Results for week

This is my first week of  “Racing Action” so I guess I was even for last week. I’ll let you know how I made out with my $68.00 in wagers at the Fair Grounds tomorrow, Feb. 10th.

If I see anything I like tomorrow I’ll post it by noon.
