Yes, the flag on the prior page was the Grand Union.  It flew over George Washington's army headquarters in 1776.

From the Red Ensign, it kept the English union jack for its union, but the rest of the banner 's red was divided by six white stripes.   This gave thirteen stripes in all.  They represented the thirteen colonies and their separation from England.
