Hidden Beauty
Hidden Beauty
I am not this body that you see,
I am not the clothes I wear.
I am not the lines upon my face,
Or the grey that’s in my hair.
I am the smile upon my lips,
The sparkle in my eye.
The passion that burns within my heart
That asks the question, why?
Why do you only see with eyes,
And not see with your heart?
Let preconceptions fall away
And let this friendship start.
Or has this world become a place
Where only beauty reigns.
And those whose beauty lies within
Must live in lonely pain.
For that’s true ugliness to me,
To see warm hearts ignored.
For they have naught but love to give,
With them, you’d be adored.
