The Local Library has on Microfilm an INDEX to all Kentucky Civil War
Soldiers with their Regiment(s), and Service Records for Kentucky Soldiers
who Served in the Civil War - Union and Confederate. The Library also has Most all Service Records For the Soldiers who served in Kentucky in the Civil War.
Misc. Fact: The Origin of Muster Cards -
In the 1890s, under the direction of Capt. Fred C. Ainsworth, the U. S. War
Department compiled the military service records of Civil War soldiers from
company muster rolls (normally made out every 2 months), and other regimental
records. Since the rolls had become worn and frail from years of constant
use, each entry on every record was copied on a separate card.
