My Favorite things about Angelfire.

Vicki's WebPage

Hello my name is Glenda and this is my webpage on blood parrot's in memory of Tinker,Dinker and BadAss. They are the reason I am making this webpage.

As you all know there isn't much out there on this sweet fish, so I'm trying to find all that I can about them to put on here for eveyone . The blood parrot is a hybrid of Cichlasoma severum and a cichlasoma labiatum they are a man made fish.
There are 7 kinds of the blood parrot's,the original blood parrot,Jellybean blood parrot,Bubble gum blood parrot,Sweetheart blood parrot,Purple blood parrot,Unicorn blood parrot & the Striped blood parrot.
Because the blood parrot is a hybrid fish it doesn't have a scienitific name nor will it be given one because they are a man made fish and have no natural enviroment, however considering the parent species they should do reasonalby well in nuetral ph levels and don't appear to be very picky. From my experience with them I keep the water temperature around 74f and they do just fine.

How large do they grow?
They can grow up to 8 inches in length, and can live up to 10 years.

Colors?
They come in a large variety of colors; orange, red, blue, purple, green, pink, and yellow as they get older ther colors will change. you also have your dye colors the dye color ones are haveing bad health problens because of the dye they use to dye them with . i know this because i have some of the dye ones and they are sick alot
They do breed and lay eggs. To acheve babies you must have a fertile male jellybean blood parrot to fertilize the eggs. The babies are called frye's.
If you have more then the two parents you can keep the babies in with them for a little bit before you have to move them, but,if you have more then the parents in the tank you need to move them as soon as you can before they hatch. The best way to move the eggs or the frye's is with a turkey baster. It is the safest and easiest way. A good idea to use a 1 or a 2 gallon tank for the frye's when they hatch.

Feeding and General Care?
Feed them newly hatched brine shrimp, you can get the shrimp eggs at your local pet store. You should change the water in the frye's tank evey 3 to 4 days.

Behavior?
Some people say ther behavior is very aggressive, but this not true at all . I have had blood parrot's since they come out my husband and i have a 55 gallon tank with nothing but blood parrot's in it we love and enjoy them very much and they all have names.

They should not be put in a tank with aggressive fish, because they are sweet loveable fish that starving for your attention, they also have a good temperament we like watching them play and show off.

Comments?
They can & do breed, the eggs do hatch. right now we do have some frye's the only sad thing about this wonderful fish is that they are a man made fish and no one knows much about them. There is very little information on them, yet the pet stores charge a high prices for them . I will be adding more information on this wonderful fish. [ telling males from females yes there is away to tell . the females have what is call a egg tube that will be showing the males only have a little tube the females have a alot biger tube this is the way to tell the males from the females Thank You for taking the time to vist my web page.
