Ryle (3-0) vs. Henry Clay (4-0)  September 17, 1999

Coach Kyle Hockman brings his No. 16 rated Raiders to town to play the No. 2 rated Henry Clay Blue Devils, coached by Sam Simpson.  Ryle has been led by QB Justin Parr and TB Travis Grant.  Henry Clay's fastbreak offense will be triggered by QB Shane Boyd.  Shane will be missing his favorite target Zia Combs, who is out with an injury.

Henry Clay's defense came up huge when it counted most to secure a 21-14 Henry Clay win.  The teams fought to a 14-14 tie at halftime.  The defensive play that set the tone for the night occurred late in the third quarter.  The score was tied at 14 all and Ryle was facing a fourth-and-goal 6 yards from pay dirt.  QB  Justin Parr lofted a pass into the end zone that 6-4 star receiver Mike Setters appeared to have, but 5-9 Antwon Pinkston somehow managed to break up the play.

Ryle trailed 7-0 in the first quarter when Jared Linton intercepted a  Boyd pass and returned it 78 yards to set up a 2 yard TD run by Travis Alig.  They managed to tie the game again 14-14 by halftime on a 19 yard pass from Parr to Setters. Shane Boyd scored the winning touchdown from 16 yards out with 8:18 remaining in the game.  The Henry Clay defense then secured the win with two interceptions in the closing minutes.

Shane Boyd managed 106 yards through the air as well as carrying the ball 16 times for 140 yards and two touchdowns.  Raymon Smith provided some tough inside running with 73 yards on 17 carries and one score.  6-4 wide receiver Mike Setters led Ryle with 135 yards on 10 receptions and one score.
