Fort Thomas Highlands (3-1) vs. Paul Laurence Dunbar (2-2) September 24, 1999

Highlands enters this game coming off a 35-14 loss to Cincinnati Elder which snapped their 18 game winning streak.  They are led by QB Gino Guidugli, who has completed 46 for 93 passes and 8 touchdowns with 186.7 passing yards per game.  Dunbar is led by the dynamic passing combination of Chip Franklin to Leon Mack.  Chip has completed 55 of 105 passes and 12 touchdowns with 256.2 passing yards per game.  Mack has caught 14 passes for 611 yards and 10 touchdowns.  Dunbar is led on defense by LB Jacob Koch, who recorded 20 tackles against Marshall County last week.

Highlands came out extremely fired up and executed flawlessly both offensively and defensively in the first half to lead 52-14 at halftime.  Highlands pulled their starters after the first half and cruised to a 59-20 victory. Gino Guidugli was 7 for 7 in the passing department with 244 yards and three touchdown passes.  Brenden Zenni also ran for four touchdowns for the Bluebirds. Brett Hamblen's heroics set the table for three Highland touchdowns.  He ran 48 yards on a reverse, intercepted a pass, and returned a fumble 40 yards to set up scores.

Highlands unleashed a ferocious defense which sacked Chip Franklin six times and pressured him all night.  This enabled Highlands to completely neutralize the Chip Franklin to Leon Mack long ball threat.  Franklin still managed to complete 15 of 34 passes for 164 yards and two scores.  However, he was intercepted three times. Dunbar's leading rusher, Corey Dunn, was sidelined by a mild concussion in the first half.
