Lafayette finally took the lead for good with 20 seconds left in the first half and the defense held up in the second half in a 34-19 victory over Tates Creek. The score was tied 13-13 late in the first half when Lafayette's Nathan Green caught a 22 yard pass from Brett Durbin with 20 seconds remaining in the half. Matt Green kicked the extra point to give Lafayette offense a 20-13 lead. Lafayette's defense dominated in the second half before giving up a Tates Creek TD in the closing minutes of the game.
Lafayette recorded 12 first downs and 224 yards of total offense. The Generals were penalized nine times for 109 yards and lost three fumbles. Tates Creek had 14 first downs and 156 yards of total offense. The Commodores were penalized 10 times for 71 yards, lost a fumble, and had two passes intercepted.
Eric Shaw Jr. led the Lafayette ground game with 137 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries. Brett Durbin completed eight of nine passes for 72 yards and a touchdown. Jos. Stephenson caught four passes for 23 yards. Nathan Green caught three passes for 30 yards and a TD. Marlon Johnson had an 87 yard kickoff return for a TD. Bubba Johnson led the defense with seven solo and one assisted tackles. Three of his tackles resulted in losses totalling 16 yards. Bubba Johnson also intercepted a pass.
Dee Christopher led the Tates Creek ground game with 43 yards on eight carries. Christopher completed 15 of 29 passes for 120 yards with two interceptions. Martrell Berry completed two of four passes for 14 yards with a touchdown. Jon. DiLiberto caught five passes for 40 yards. Damon Boggs returned two punts for 55 yards including a 38 yard TD return. Jacob Kadel led the Commodore defense with six solo and two assisted tackles. Cam Ruddell added four solo tackles.
