Lafayette (0-0) vs. North Bullitt (0-0)

Coach Mike Harmon's Lafayette Generals finished 10-1 last season and return a talented group this season.  QB Logan Bunch passed for 2330 yards and 24 touchdowns last season.  WR Tommy Gifford caught 36 passes for 613 yards and six touchdowns.  The running game should be anchored by Darnell Burnside.  The Generals have an excellent kicker returning in Jake Stephens.

Coach Brett Newton's North Bullitt Eagles finished 7-4 last season and return a lot of talent and high expectations for this year.  5-9 200 pound Jr. RB Dalton Cissell ran for 2143 yards and scored 22 touchdowns last season.  6-2 200 pound Sr. QB R. D. Reynolds is a versatile performer who passed for 459 yards and seven TDs, rushed for 547 yards and 10 TDs, and caught passes for 183 yards and three TDs.  Reynolds also intercepted three passes from his safety position.  LB Jimmy Blandford averaged nine tackles a game last season.

Lafayette utilized the strong leg of Jake Stephens and an opportunistic defense to defeat North Bullitt 16-6.  Stephens booted field goals of 31, 47, and 48 yards and Lafayette defenders recovered four fumbles for the game.  Lafayette led 13-6 when North Bullitt recovered an on-side kick at the Lafayette 49 with 6:19 remaining in the game.  However, Lafayette's Gary Demus recovered a fumble on the Lafayette 36 yards line.  Lafayette drove to the North Bullitt 30 yard line and Jake Stephens nailed a 48 yard field goal with 1:16 remaining on the clock to give Lafayette a 10 point cushion.

Lafayette recorded 14 first downs and 245 yards of total offense.  The Generals were penalized 13 times for 113 yards and lost one fumble.  North Bullitt had 14 first downs and 241 yards of total offense.  The Eagles were penalized 10 times for 71 yards and lost possession on four of seven fumbles.  Lafayette converted on six of 11 third down plays while North Bullitt was zero of eight.

Darnell Burnside led the Lafayette ground attack with 78 yards and a TD on 18 carries.  Logan Bunch completed 14 of 23 passes for 152 yards.  Eric Shaw caught six passes for 62 yards and Tommy Gifford added three receptions for 35 yards.  Jake Stephens kicked three field goals, one extra point, and punted once for 44 yards.  The Generals kicked off five times and allowed zero yards on returns.  Wesley Evans. Zach Currier. and Eric Shaw each recorded three solo and one assisted tackles.

R. D. Reynolds led the North Bullitt ground game with 107 yards and a TD on 15 carries.  Dalton Cissell carried the ball 15 times for 44 yards.  Reynolds completed five of 15 passes for 89 yards.  Brandon Daniels caught four passes for 53 yards.  James Blandford recorded six solo and two assisted tackles with 2.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totalling nine yards.  Jordan Mayberry addeed five solo and two assisted tackles.
