Madison Central (2-0) vs. Tates Creek (2-0) September 1, 2006

Coach Kenny Turner's Madison Central Indians opened the season with victories over West Jessamine and Dunbar.  The Indians have displayed big play capabilities this season with seven touchdowns ov 49 yards or longer. 

Coach Mark Willoughby's Tates Creek Commodores are on a mission this season.  Last year, the Commodores opened the season with three losses by a combined score of 126-14 to Clark County, Ballard, and Madison Central.  Tates Creek has opened the season with victories over Clark County and Ballard that match their victory total of last season.  This year's Commodores enter tonight's game seeking redemption over Madison Central, led by a strong offensive line and the running of RB Ty Sparks

Tates Creek's Ty Sparks scored on a four yard run in the second overtime to give the Commodores a 34-31 victory over Madison Central.  Madison Central had the first possession in the second overtime but was forced to settle for a 37 yard field goal by Ryan Blake after suffering a costly holding penalty on a first and goal from the 10 yard line.

Madison Central held a 21-14 lead in the fourth quarter until Tates Creek tied the score with 3:41 left in regulation on a two yard run by Ty Sparks and conversion kick by Brian Williams.  The teams traded touchdowns in the first overtime until Tates Creek settled the issue in the second overtime.

Tates Creek rolled up 325 yards of total offense including 306 yards on the ground and recorded 19 first downs.  The Commodores lost a fumble and were penalized three times for 31 yards.  Madison Central recorded 16 first downs and rolled up 319 yards of total offense.  The Indians had a pass intercepted were penalized 11 times for 73 yards.

The punishing Tates Creek ground game was led tonight by 225 pound Jr. FB Marcus Kader who gained 164 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries.  Ty Sparks added 141 yards and three touchdowns on 28 rushing attempts.  Hayden Cardiff completed three of five passes for 19 yards.  Robert Knowles led the Commodore defense with three solo and seven assisted tackles.  Caleb Barnes added four solo and four assisted tackles. 

Keyshawn Simpson led Madison Central's ground game with 62 yards on nine carries.  Ricky Rhodes added 40 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries.  Chaz Hope completed seven of 15 passes for 142 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.  Ricky Rhodes had two receptions for 85 yards with TD receptions of 52 and 33 yards.  Isaiah Kavanaugh led the defense with five solo and seven assisted tackles.  Austin Garrett added four solo and seven assisted tackles and Daniel Bryan recorded three solo and nine assisted tackles.
