Clark County (0-0) vs. Tates Creek (0-0) August 18, 2006

Coach Paul Columbia's Clark County Cardinals finished 8-3 last season and return 14 starters this season.  Robbelle Rogers and Clint Greene are expected to lead the ground game and Jr. QB Dougie Mason has won the starting job as the Cardinals' signal caller.  Tristan Jones also returns as a TE/DE.

Coach Mark Willoughby's Tates Creek Commodores finished 2-8 last season but should be improved this season.  The Commodores have a veteran offensive line who should be very capable of providing running room for Ty Sparks who gained 1160 yards on the ground last season as a sophomore.  The Commodores have good size up front including 6-3 260 pound Jr. Chris Riley, 6-2 265 pound Sr. Caleb Barnes, 6-1 240 pound Sr. Patrick Kelly, 6-2 225 pound Sr. Patrick Dove, and 6-1 215 pound Sr. Josh Lindmark.

Tates Creek led 17-6 at halftime and held on in the second hlaf to defeat Clark County 17-14.  The Commodores managed to control the ball holding a 28:12-19:48 advantage in possession time.  Clark County had a couple of long runs nullified by holding penalties.  The Cardinals had difficulty stopping Ty Sparks as the Tates Creek RB carried the ball 31 times for 149 yards with two TDs.

Tates Creek recorded 11 first downs and 218 yards of total offense.  The Commodores were penalized six times for 35 yards.  Clark County recorded 10 first downs, had 198 yards on offense, and was flagged five times for 40 yards.  Each team lost a fumble.

Ty Sparks led the Tates Creek ground attack with 149 yards with TD runs of two and four yards on 31 carries.  Hayden Cardiff completed two of five passes for 58 yards.  Daniel Norman caught one pass for 45 yards.  Alan Meadors led the Commodore defense with two solo tackles and nine assisted tackles.

Robbelle Rogers led the Clark County ground game with 85 yards and TD runs of 23 and five yards on 12 carries.  Dougie Mason carried the ball 10 times for 58 yards.  Mason completed two of 10 passes for 16 yards.  Tristan Jones caught both passes for 16 yards.  Michael Clark led the Cardinal defense with four solo and three assisted tackles.  Ron Morton added four solo and two assisted tackles.
