Scott County (1-2) vs. Henry Clay (4-0) September 16, 2005
*Henry Clay is playing their home games at Tates Creek High School until construction is completed on their new stadium.
Henry Clay overcame a 21-14 deficit early in the second quarter to soundly defeat Scott County by a score of 50-27. Scott County scored touchdowns the first three series they had the ball but a combination of turnovers and a balanced Henry Clay offense was too much to overcome.
Henry Clay held a 411-259 advantage in total offense and recorded 21 first downs to Scott County's 16 first downs. Scott County lost two fumbles and had a pass intercepted while Henry Clay lost one fumble for the evening. Henry Clay was penalized seven times for 41 yards while Scott County was flagged five times for 53 yards.
Rod Johnson led the Henry Clay ground game with 137 yards and a TD on 22 carries. Salin Simpson added 44 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries. Simpson completed 12 of 24 passes for 212 yards with three scoring strikes. Clark Jeter caught five passes for 137 yards and with two scoring receptions. Patrick Jones and Stephon Burton led the defense with four solo and five assisted tackles each.
Scott County's ground game was led by Jimmie Warren with 102 yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries. Cody Andrews completed six of 10 passes for 129 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Rodney Haddix caught four passes for 94 yards. Anthony Sandoval returned two kickoffs for 103 yards including a return of 80 yards to the Henry Clay 18 yard line. Jason Rusch led the Cardinal defense with six solo and six assisted tackles each. Jimmie Warren added eight solo and one assisted tackles.
