Lafayette (5-4) vs. Scott County (5-4) October 28, 2005

Lafayette needs to win tonight to clinch a spot in the playoffs.  The Generals are coming off a 37-21 upset of previously unbeaten Henry Clay.  Sophomore QB Logan Bunch threw for 245 yards and two scores while Enrique Shaw returned from an elbow injury to spark the offense with a 75 yard TD run.  Scott Bodkin reached the century mark in receiving last week with 102 yards and a score on four receptions,

Scott County will reach the playoffs regardless of the outcome of tonight's game.  The Cardinals are coming off a tough 40-35 loss to Paul Dunbar.  RB Jimmie Warren has rushed for 1043 yards and 16 touchdowns while Cody Andrews has passed for 1087 yards and 12 touchdowns.  Rodney Haddix has developed into a big play receiver with 610 yards and eight touchdowns on 27 receptions.

Lafayette scored on a four yard pass from Logan Bunch to Jonny Meyer with six seconds remaining on the clock and Jake Stephens kicked the extra point to defeat Scott County 25-21.  Scott County took a 21-10 lead early in fourth quarter on a 14 yard run by Mike Sberna.  Lafayette cut the deficit to three, 21-18, on a 79 yard pass from Bunch to Meyer and a two point conversion pass from Trey Stilz to Tim Franklin.

Lafayette held on defense but Scott County received a break when they recovered Meyer's fumble on a punt return on the Lafayette 40.  Scott County received a costly 15 yard personal foul penalty on a third-and-seven play and was forced to punt when they failed to convert on a third-and-22 play.  Lafayette failed to convert on a fourth-and-eight pass from their own 27 and Scott County took over on downs.  Scott County drove to Lafayette's 20 but was stopped short on fourth-and-three.

Lafayette took over on their own 21 with 1:46 left in the game.  The Generals faced a fourth-and-four play from the Scott County 15 before a personal foul penalty gave them a first-and-goal from the 7. Two plays later, Meyer scored the game-winning touchdown.  Another key play on the drive was a 48 yard pass from Bunch to Jared Leedy on the Scott County 21.

Lafayette held a 397-347 advantage in total offense, including a 302-93 advantage in passing yardage.  The Generals also enjoyed a 20-15 advantage in first downs.  Lafayette lost two fumbles, had a pass intercepted, and was penalized four times for 24 yards.  Scott County fumbled the ball six times, losing one of them, and was penalized 12 times for 119 yards.

DeMario Richardson led the Lafayette ground game with 84 yards on 17 carries.  Logan Bunch completed 18 of 30 passes for 302 yards with three touchdowns and one interception.  Enrique Shaw caught six passes for 89 yards while Jonny Meyer caught three passes for 105 yards with all three of his receptions going for TDs.  Jared Leedy led the defense with four solo and nine assisted tackles.  Fred Pennington added four solo and seven assisted tackles, while Enrique Shaw recorded four solo and six assisted tackles.

Jimmie Warren paced Scott County's ground attack with 121 yards on 18 carries.  Cody Andrews added 54 yards on six carries and Keith Smith chipped in with 53 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries.  Andrews completed five of 10 passes for 93 yards.  Rodney Haddix caught three passes for 32 yards.  Adis Ramic led the Cardinal defense with five solo and six assisted tackles including four tackles for losses totalling 18 yards.  Jason Rusch added three solo and four assisted tackles.
