Harrison County (4-3) vs. West Jessamine (3-4) October 14, 2005

Harrison County's 5-11 154 pound Soph Julius Talbot finally broke a scoreless tie with an 85 yard touchdown run with 1:18 remaining in the game to give his team a 7-0 victory over West Jessamine.  This was and old-fashioned rock-em sock-em defensive struggle played on natural grass in a game in which both teams' regular starting QB was unable to play due to injuries.  Harrison County's 6-3 185 pound Sr. QB Cory Britt and West Jessamine's 6-3 220 pound Sr. QB Eric Coker were unable to play tonight.  Both teams were impressive on defense tonight with Harrison County being held to an average of 4.2 yards per play (85 yards on the one play) and West Jessamine being held to an average of 2.9 yards per play.

Harrison County held a 216-137 yard advantage in total offense and enjoyed an 11-7 margin in first downs.  Harrison County lost one fumble and was penalized seven times for 29 yards.  West Jessamine had three passes intercepted and was flagged three times for 31 yards.

Julius Talbot led the Harrison County ground attack with 100 yards including the 85 yards TD run on four carries.  5-9 180 pound Sr. James Custard added 47 yards on 16 carries.  Talbot also led the defense with seven solo and three assisted tackles and also had an interception.  James Custard added four solo and six assisted tackles.  5-11 170 pound Sr. Jeremy Allen added two solo and six assisted tackles while 5-11 230 pound Sr. Chris Marshall chipped in with one solo and eight assisted tackles.

5-9 180 pound Sr. Eli Darby led the West Jessamine ground game with 79 yards on 22 carries.  6-3 165 pound Jr. QB Glendon Blanton completed seven of 16 passes for 57 yards with three interceptions.  Gulian Blanton, a 5-11 160 pound Soph LB, was everywhere tonight as he recorded nine solo and seven assisted tackles including three tackles for losses totalling 13 yards.  5-11 185 pound Sr. LB Jake Carlson added four solo and three assisted tackles while 6-0 180 pound Sr. DL Joseph Guthrie chipped in with two solo and five assisted tackles.
