Henry Clay (3-0) vs. Christian County (2-0) September 9, 2005
Rod Johnson scored on a 15 yard run in the second overtime to give Henry Clay a 41-38 victory over Christian County. Christian County had an opportunity to win the game in regulation but a 35 yard field goal attempt was blocked with seconds remaining on the clock.
Henry Clay held a 535-408 advantage in total yardage and enjoyed a 30-18 margin in first downs. Henry Clay lost three fumbles for the game while Christian County lost one fumble. Henry Clay was penalized 22 times for 162 yards while Christian County was flagged 14 times for 142 yards.
Rod Johnson led the Henry Clay ground game with 213 yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries. Salin Simpson added 69 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries. Simpson completed 22 of 26 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns. Aaron Boyd caught seven passes for 61 yards. Clark Jeter added six receptions for 123 yards with one TD reception. Ryan Breen led the Blue Devil defense with six solo and three assisted tackles. Chris Alexander and Marcus Bentley each recorded five solo tackles.
Mack Dillard led the Christian County ground game with 110 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries. Keith Tandy completed 16 of 26 passes for 260 yards with two touchdown passes. Shawn Brown caught eight passes for 170 yards including two touchdown receptions. Martez Price led the Christian County defense with eight solo tackles. Trevin Bailey added seven solo and two assisted tackles.
