Scott County (7-2) vs. Lafayette (6-3) October 29, 2004

Scott County is a perfect 5-0 in district play and would complete a sweep of the Lexington public schools with a win tonight.  The Cardinals have a balanced offense led on the ground by 5-10 185 pound Sr. halfback Ted Sberna and 5-10 235 pound Sr. fullback Percy Hargrove.  6-1 206 pound So. QB Cody Andrews favorite taeget this season has been 6-4 215 pound Sr. William Lewis.  The Scott County defense has been impressive and the team appears to be peaking in time for the playoffs.

Lafayette has a strong gound attack led by 5-9 185 pound Sr. Tony Rawlings and 5-10 216 pound Jr. DeMario Richardson.  The Generals passing attack has been hampered since QB Jered Patrick went down with a knee injury.  Lafayette needs to rebound tonight as they open the playoffs next week with a tough opening round game at Madison Central.

Scott County dominated play tonight as they defeated Lafayette 28-0.  The Cardinals set the tone for the game early as they took the opening kickoff and marched 80 yards for a score in a time consuming (seven minute) 14-play drive.  The Cardinals led 8-0 after the first quarter and held Lafayette to a minus two yards of total offense.  Scott County held a 278-143 yard edge in total offense and the opportunistic defense intercepted three passes and recovered a fumble.  They held Lafayette to a net 24 yards on the ground in 26 carries.
