Madison Central (2-1) vs. Henry Clay (1-2) September 10, 2004

Madison Central opened their season with a victory over Bryan Station, lost to Paul Dunbar, then rebounded to beat Tates Creek last week.  The Indians lost to Henry Clay in a regular season game last year but rebounded to defeat the Blue Devils in the playoffs.  Henry Clay opened the season with losses to Paducah Tilghman and Boyle County but defeated Ballard last week on some late heroics by Clayton Heien

Madison Central was outgained by Henry Clay 410-276 but took advantage of turnovers and the Blue Devils' penchant for collecting penalty yardage to take a 29-15 victory.  The referees were kept busy all evening as Henry Clay was penalized 18 times for 184 yards, while Madison Central was flagged eight times for 96 yards.  An opportunistic Madison Central defense recovered one fumble and intercepted two passes including a 12 yard return for a TD by Steven Ballew

Paul Warford led the Madison Central ground attack with 109 yards including an 80 yard TD run on 10 carries.  Warford also caught two passes for 32 yards including a 26 yard TD reception.  Ryan Barnes completed seven of 11 passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns.  Rob Hess caught four passes for 61 yards including a 29 yard TD reception.  Derrick Warren led the defense with eight solo and two assisted tackles including 1.5 tackles for losses.  Steven Ballew recorded six solo and six assisted tackles plus one interception.

Rod Johnson led the Blue Devils on the ground with 108 yards on 15 carries before he was forced to the sideline with an injury midway through the third quarter.  Salin Simpson added 78 yards on 14 carries and completed 16 of 32 passes for 156 yards but was intercepted twice.  Evan Acree added 64 yards on nine carries.  Clayton Heien and Travis Hart each had four receptions for 54 and 46 yards respectively.  Jared Green led the Blue Devil defense with seven solo and one assisted tackles.
