Both teams enter district play tonight and bring contrasting styles to the contest. Mark Willoughby's Tates Creek Commodores rely on their ground game led by Greg Baltimore, Devin Neal, and John Clay. The Commodores are coming off a 21-14 win over Dixie Heights last week. Coach Mike Meighan's Dunbar Bulldogs utilize a wide open offense but must regroup from a 63-25 defeat at the hands of Highlands last week. Dunbar has been led by QB Chip Franklin with 1033 yards and 11 scoring strikes through the air. Corey Dunn has led the ground game with 514 yards.
Chip Franklin passed for a school-record 417 yards to lead Dunbar to a decisive 40-9 victory over Tates Creek. Tates Creek took the ball 80 yards on 7 plays on their first drive ending with a David Hamilton 11 yard pass to John Clay. Dunbar responded with a 94 yard drive ending with a Chip Franklin 1 yard run to tie the game. Dunbar's passing attack and defense then took over to give Dunbar an important district victory.
Franklin was 21 of 29 through the air for 417 yards and three
touchdown passes. Corey Dunn caught eight passes for 161 yards.
Nathan
Jones had six receptions for 101 yards. Jon Ford also got in
on the aerial circus with two receptions for 86 yards and two scores. Tates
Creek's QB David Hamilton was 11 for 23 through the air for 77 yards
and one scoring toss. Greg Baltimore led the Tates Creek ground
game with 80 yards on 13 carries.
