Bryan Station (0-1) vs. Tates Creek (1-1) September 1, 2000

Bryan Station lost their season opener to Paul Dunbar 34-22 and Coach John Nochta responded by working his team in full pads this week.  Nochta was very disappointed in his team's defensive effort as they registered 30 missed tackles.  Bryan Station's star RB Eric Shelton rushed for 201 yards last week but that accounted for most of their offensive output.  QB Bruce Kostelnik suffered a rotator cuff injury last week and is not expected to play much tonight.

Tates Creek rebounded from an opening night loss to soundly defeat Cincinnati Withrow last Friday night.  Tates Creek's defense improved last week but Coach Willoughby would probably breathe a little easier if his offense could get on track.  RBs Devin Neal and Greg Baltimore are very capable but have yet to break a long play.

Bryan Station cranked up their defense, taking advantage of a young Tates Creek offensive line, and rolled to a 32-0 win tonight.  Eric Shelton got the Defenders off to a great start with a 59 yard run to the Tates Creek 5 yard line on their third play from scrimmage.  Greg Shiddell scored from the 5 and the Defender defense took care of the rest. Shelton rushed for 142 yards on 21 carries and scored twice.  Fullback Greg Shiddell added 69 yards rushing on 17 carries and one score.  Robert Haskins caught 2 passes for 46 yards including an acrobatic 33 yard catch for a touchdown.  6-4 WR Patrick Gray was a bright spot for Tates Creek, catching 4 passes for 84 yards.
