1999
When we first moved in November 1999 the yard was bare, nothing but several huge Hackberry, Wild Cherry trees and a Sycamore.

2000
We dug up a half circle area in the middle of the yard and started planting perennials and built a walkway down to the bird feeding area and placed a small birdbath in the yard. Along side our fence on the right we started with some small shrub and vine plantings (although this picture is from the following year 2001).

2001
That year we added to the left of the middle bed just a tad, started some plantings alongside the deck on the left side and added a birdbath with some plantings.

2002
Extended the left side of that middle bed even more, adding more perennials to both.

2003
There was an old wire fence that separated us from a small farm next door, this year my husband built a wooden fence, and a rail around the deck, and we began to start planting evergreen shrubs and perennials there. This year we also replaced the birdbath with a small pond for the birds. And, of course, the middle bed grows even bigger!

2004
The pond area grows bigger and so does the rest of the yard. Notice the evergreens we planted next to the new fence are doing well their second year. I finally got rid of most of the grass, leaving a semicircle pathway through the middle. I combined all of my beds to make one big mass.

2005
My last year here, I've worked so hard to create all this, had so many birds, butterflies and other insects and critters visit me here. Finding out we were moving was very depressing for me for a long time. I still miss it some but now I am busy working on my new place and if possible, it's going to be even better!
