POETRY NIGHT

My friend, Jenny Callihan, invited me and Kim Spears to make a surprise appearance as Legault and the Countess Kimberlain at Pikeville College for Poetry Night October 2002.

We readily agreed and looked forward to the event.

I got several stares as I walked from the city park to the college, dressed in black and holding a lantern.

When we got there, Jenny was waiting for us and asked us to wait outside for a minute.

Then we entered the room and approached the stage.

I went first and proceeded to read "The Raven" by Edgar Allen Poe.

It was really dark in the room, and since I am half blind anyway, I had a hard time reading and had to have the book practically in my face.

Kim read "Reapers" and did a great job putting emotion into her reading.

When we were done, we got a standing ovation.

We stood around and talked to Jenny for awhile, getting many stares.

When it was time to leave, I walked back to the van and noticed that I had accidently left a light on.

As luck would have it, my battery was dead, and I, Legault, the Lord of the Vampires, had to go back to the college and ask for a jump start.

One of the guys was joking and asked why I didn't just turn into a bat and fly home since I was a vampire.

I explained that there was precious cargo in the back of my hearse!
