Boat Exhibit Features World Champions
The Harbor Historical
Association of Georgetown announces plans for the 10th Annual
Wooden Boat Exhibit. This year’s event will be held on Saturday,
October 16, 1999. with displays in the water, along theboardwalk
and on Front Street in Historic Downtown Georgetown.

Awarded Major Boating Satety Grants
The U.S. Coast
Guard (USCG) Office of Boating Safety recently announced that
the American Canoe Association has been awarded two grants
under the 1999 National Nonprofit Public Service Organization
Boating Safety Grant Program of the Aquatic Resource (Wallop-Breaux)
Trust Fund. The new grants will provide funding for the nationwide
implementation of the Association's new whitewater rescue
program and for the expansion of the ACA's National Livery
Safety System.

Waters Clean Up Progressing Quickly
The cleanup
in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness from the downfall
created by the July 4th storm has proceeded much faster than
most of us expected.

Wins Lawsuit to Clean Up Virginia's Waterways
The ACA, along
with the American Littoral Society and the Eastern Environmental
Law Center has announced the issuance of a federal consent
order to settle a lawsuit against the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA).
