The staggering fact of the Ancient Egyptian civilization is that the time span from the unication of Egypt by Narmer to its eventual conquest by the Roman empire in the 1st century BC, their culture as already considered ancient by the Romans who looked upon the Ancient Egyptians with awe. Even by the New Kingdom period, the pyrimids were well over 1000 years old!
